Sash Restoration Fort Hill (Calhoun House)

Here is a rib repair. A portion of the glazing stop was missing as well as  the rib being broken.  Each piece of the sash was identified (blue tape) before disassembly. The sash was disassembled and the missing pieces made and glued in place. The window was reassembled using the original wood pegs. All replacement pieces were made from wood of the same approximate age and density.

To the right is the sash after repairs and assembly. The white substance is epoxy used to fill areas of damage and where soft wood had weathered away.

More information about Fort Hill (Calhoun House).  Before photo of sash.
