On the cabinet at right the dutch metal (imitation gold
leaf) gilding has tarnished and the paint film is failing.
Before any restoration was undertaken the painted
design was carefully copied. The loose material was
then removed and the surface prepared for gilding.
After gilding a protective coating was applied.
The hand painted design was then executed.
