Hardware before
restoration. This Yale hardware dates to circa 1913.
Exterior escutcheon after restoration.
Pictured at right and below is of
some of the hardware from the doors of First
Church Christ Scientist. The size and weight of these doors required hinges
with bearings. The bottom row of photos show the parts of one of these
bearings. The bearing pictured was disassembled for repair and
lubrication. The stripped and polished hardware was painted with
bronzing powder in lacquer and then a coat of clear lacquer was applied.
The final step was the application of a burnt umber glaze.
